Walk Together is Welcome to Australia’s annual national celebration of Australia’s diversity, designed as a tangible expression of the welcoming, fair and compassionate society they are committed to building. It is more important than ever for everyone to celebrate the values of compassion and inclusion.

In its sixth year, and building on the success of the past, Welcome to Australia hope to coordinate Walk Together in as many as 30 cities and regional centres across Australia. Walk Together will again involve celebrities, sports stars, and political leaders from all parties to join thousands of everyday Australians to celebrate the diversity that makes the nation great.

Welcome to Australia along with many community organisations, faith groups, businesses, advocacy groups, multicultural communities, media outlets, and settlement service providers are collaborating to make Walk Together 2017 the biggest and most impactful walk ever.

“Australia’s unique character is shaped by the diversity of its peoples, their cultures, beliefs, and lifestyle.

Let’s celebrate the ‘US’ in ‘aUStralia’ – bring your family, social and community groups and pets for a wonderful day in the city.

Let’s walk for FREEDOM. Being a real Australian is having the courage to be compassionate and brave. Let’s champion multiculturalism and have the strength to be part of a welcoming community.”

Gary Lee – Ambassador, Welcome to Australia
