The 2019 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Best Student Cities Ranking has just been released, naming Melbourne the best student city in Australia and the third-best in the world.
The Victorian capital sits behind London and Tokyo in the rankings, which placed first and second respectively. Sydney was the only other Australian city in the top 10, sitting at number nine.
The top 10 student cities for 2019 are:

- Berlin
- Montreal
- Paris
- Zurich
- Sydney
- Seoul
The QS rankings look at different areas when assessing student cities around the world: affordability; quality of life; how many universities the city contains and how well they’ve performed; diversity among students; and employment prospects.
