International students are due to head back to Adelaide, with the South Australian pilot program receiving official approval. From mid-November, hundreds of international students will be permitted to travel to Adelaide to continue their studies.
The Adelaide pilot program will allow 300 students the chance to return to Adelaide in time for semester one in February 2021. Eligible students from carefully selected areas including Singapore, South Korea, China, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia will receive a letter from their university requesting expressions of interest in the program. The above locations were selected based on a number of criteria, including both academic requirements and the stringent rules of Singapore Airlines, which has been selected to bring the students to Australia.
Fresh off the news of the Darwin pilot program, the expanding opening of Australian borders to more international students will be welcome to news after the uncertainty of the pandemic has affected both educational institutions and the economies of Australia’s biggest cities. Currently, the pilot programs only allow students whose study plans were interrupted by the pandemic to return to Australia.
