Australia Travel and Entry Updates for International Students

While fully vaccinated international students are allowed to enter Australia, they must follow the required vaccination, testing and quarantine regulations of the state to which they are travelling.

Can I enter without quarantining?
Yes, no quarantine required
To enter South Australia, fully vaccinated international travellers must present a negative COVID-19 test result taken within 72 hours prior to arrival. They must then take a PCR test within 24 hours of arrival in South Australia and quarantine until the test has been taken. No further quarantine period is required unless they return a positive result; depending on the traveller’s circumstances, this quarantine will be completed at home or at a medi-hotel.

Yes, no quarantine required
International arrivals do not need to quarantine upon arrival in NSW. From 21 December, fully vaccinated international travellers arriving in NSW must get a PCR test within 24 hours after arrival and isolate until they receive a negative result. You must comply with the NSW Health Guidelines for Recent Fully Vaccinated Arrivals and get a follow-up test on day six after arrival.

Yes, no quarantine required
International arrivals do not need to quarantine upon arrival in Victoria. From 21 December, fully vaccinated international travellers arriving in Victoria must get a PCR test within 24 hours after arrival and isolate until they receive a negative result. They must get another PCR test between days five and seven after arrival.

Can I enter without quarantining?
Yes, no quarantine required
International arrivals who are fully vaccinated will now need to get a COVID-19 PCR test within 24 hours of arrival in Australia and quarantine until they receive a negative result. Provided the returned traveller receives confirmation of a negative PCR test result, they (and other household members) may leave quarantine. They do not need to wait to be formally advised of the end of their quarantine by ACT Health.

Northern Territory
Can I enter without quarantining?
Yes, no quarantine required
Fully vaccinated travellers entering the Northern Territory from overseas will not need to quarantine upon arrival. They must complete a Border Entry Form and provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result taken within 72 hours prior to arrival. Another COVID-19 test must be taken within 72 hours of arrival in the NT and again on day 6.

Fully vaccinated international students entering Tasmania will no longer need to quarantine upon arrival. From 12.01am on Saturday 26 February, there will be no entry requirements for travellers to Tasmania, regardless of vaccination status or where they have spent time prior to arrival.

Australia Safe Travel Zones
Australia has opened its quarantine-free travel bubble for fully vaccinated travellers coming from the Republic of Korea and Japan as of 15 December 2021. Since 21 November 2021, Australia has had a quarantine-free arrangement for fully vaccinated arrivals from Singapore.
