In recent days, data has emerged indicating that online cheating is becoming increasingly common among international tertiary students, with many leveraging online “homework assistance” services like Chegg. The news comes just a couple of months after research found that students believe cheating is now easier due to the rise in online learning since COVID-19. Given the high tuition fees for international students and the academic performance requirement for Student visa holders, many international students have reported feeling like cheating is their only option.

As an international student, what are your thoughts? In your opinion, is it understandable why people would cheat due to the pressures they face? Does it frustrate or concern you to hear that other international students are cheating? Why or why not?
