Enjoy the delights of Lightscape

The globally-renowned Lightscape experience enjoyed sold-out success in Sydney and Melbourne and has finally landed in Kings Park! Now’s your chance to discover this stunning installation for yourself!

Wander through illuminated tunnels, trees and displays to take in this awe-inspiring light show, which will transport you to a mystical, enchanted world along a 2km loop of the Botanic Gardens.

Lightscape is on until 30 July, with timed-entry tickets available for $40 per person. Make sure you book early to secure your spot!

Cosy up at the Winter Film Club

The City of Perth Library has brought back their much-loved Winter Film Club for 2023, and this time, it’s all about Europe!

Held monthly from June to August, this free event is your perfect chance to see cinematic masterpieces from across the globe. Upcoming sessions include Polish film Ida on 11 July and the Swedish-made flick About Endlessness on 8 August.

Each session is hosted by Tristan Buff, a local film reviewer and cinema lover, who hosts a lively discussion after the screening to help you get more from your viewing experience.

Warm up at the Perth Gin Festival

Gin has been enjoying a surge in popularity over recent years, and the Perth Gin Festival is your chance to learn all about this delightful spirit! From 18-20 August, this event will allow you to explore over 200 gins from 55 local Australian distillers.

Just $70 will get you a general entry ticket, where you can sample the wares, learn about gin making and find your new favourite tipple, while $180 will grant you access to a special tasting masterclass!

Discover Perth on foot

The cooler months are the ideal time to get out and enjoy Perth’s stunning natural environment.

The city boasts a wide range of trails, from gentle walks to serious hikes, all right on your doorstep! You can even take a stroll along one of the amazing beaches to enjoy some fresh air and sunshine.

The city is also home to fantastic heritage trails, where you can explore Perth’s colonial history, iconic architecture and the effects of the gold rush boom. Download a map to go alone, or join one of the free tours for a great day out!

Have a laugh with Perth’s comedy scene

Seeing a show is the perfect way to warm up on a chilly evening, and Perth’s thriving comedy scene means there are plenty of laughs to be had!

Hardcore comedy fans won’t want to miss the Crushers Comedy Gala. Held on 29 July and featuring some of the country’s best touring acts, you can pick up a ticket for just $57.69.

If you’re looking for a cheaper night out, head to the Experimental Comedy Club on Tuesdays. In a cool, secret bar tucked away behind a fridge door, you’ll get to see new and untested material from some of the funniest comedians around, all for just $12.64 when booked in advance!

Indulge in some arts and culture

If you’re still stuck for ideas of what to do in Perth in winter, why not visit one of the city’s world-class art galleries for a cultural fix?
