How to donate
Whether you’re moving, downsizing or just want more space for your new secondhand goodies, donating is an excellent way to give your old items a new life.
Most charity op shops accept donations in-store or via charity collection bins. Don’t leave donations outside of stores, as these often go straight to landfill. Some operators, like Hobart City Mission, Vinnies and Salvos, offer furniture collection services.
Items you donate should always be clean, unbroken and usable. If you’re unsure, follow the simple rule: if you wouldn’t give it to a friend, don’t donate!
Some stores, like Goodbyes, operate on consignment. This means you’ll get a cut of the sale price for your clothes, but they’re more selective about the pieces they accept.
Now that you have all the inside tips, it’s time to go shopping! Good luck, and happy thrifting!
