UTS Announces Temporary Suspension of Some 2026 Programs

The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) has announced a temporary suspension of new student intake for some courses in the Autumn 2026 semester.

This decision affects over 100 to 146 courses across faculties such as Business, Design & Society, Engineering & IT, Health, Law, Science, and Transdisciplinary programs. You can find the full list of suspensed courses on the UTS website.

As stated by UTS in their announcement: “UTS continually reviews its course offerings as we want to make sure our curriculum is relevant to what students and employers need. The courses being suspended for new intake are those which have low student enrolments.”

The temporary suspension has no impact on current students at this time and is aimed only at prospective new students for 2026.

Suspension also does not mean a course will automatically be closed. UTS have said, “Sometimes intakes are suspended ahead of phase out, some intakes are suspended while courses are redesigned to refresh curriculum and/or better meet student demand before being offered again. The suspensions will be in place until a decision is made on the future of these courses following consultation with staff and unions through a change proposal process.”

What does this mean for me?

If you’re already studying at UTS, your course remains unchanged. If you’re applying to UTS for Autumn 2026, double-check whether your intended course is on hold. Decisions on these courses are still under development. Admissions teams will provide further updates on the status of affected offerings.

If you’re a prospective student, consider alternative programs if your chosen one is suspended. UTS recommends exploring other courses via its website or speaking with admissions advisors.
