Best Date Spots in Brisbane

We’re getting to that time of year when romance is in the air. Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and if you want to wow your significant other, it’s best to get organised soon. Most date night activities in Brisbane book out close to Valentine’s Day, so the sooner you make a plan, the better!

It’s worth noting that you don’t need to be in a relationship to enjoy a romantic date in Brisbane. You can use Valentine’s Day to express your love and appreciation for your friends and family as well.

Australia has a very open and casual dating culture. Sex and dating are widely discussed, and most people are always looking to get out and meet people. If you’re interested in someone and they’ve expressed interest in you, Valentine’s Day could be a great opportunity to ask them out on a date.

To help you on your way, we’ve compiled some of the best date ideas in Brisbane, plus a few unusual date ideas in Brisbane. Check them out below.

Brisbane Botanic Gardens

Take a romantic stroll around the Brisbane Botanic Gardens and soak up the gorgeous views of the Brisbane River. There are plenty of places to stop for a picnic or take in the scenery.

The Gardens are located in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD, so they’re easy to get to. Plus, you’re only a short stroll from various bars and restaurants if the date goes well and you want to keep it going!

Mount Coot-tha Lookout

With breathtaking views over the city and beyond, Mount Coot-tha Lookout is ideal for a romantic Valentine’s Day date.

If you’re there during the day and feel like spending a bit of cash, there’s a great cafe at the top of the mountain.

But the real beauty happens at night; the city lights are stunning and make for a truly unforgettable evening. Plus, it’s a great spot for a romantic photo opportunity – especially at sunset.

Planetarium

Just a short drive from Mount Coot-tha is the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium. Here, you can gaze up at the stars with your loved one and enjoy a romantic view.

For Valentine’s Day, we recommend joining the Planetarium experience, Dark Side of The Moon, celebrating 50 years of the iconic Pink Floyd Album. Tickets are only $16 per adult, but you’ll have to book soon to avoid missing out.

Romantic Dinner

The classics are classics for a reason. Sometimes, there’s nothing better than looking lovingly into your significant other’s eyes while enjoying some incredible food. Brisbane is blessed with some of the best restaurants in the country, so you can’t go wrong wherever you choose to visit.

Most restaurants will likely have a Valentine’s Day set menu, but make sure you book well in advance. Valentine’s Day is often the busiest day of the year for restaurants.

Here are some great restaurants to check out.

Kangaroo Point Cliffs

The Kangaroo Point Cliffs are a great place to enjoy a romantic picnic, watch the sunset or simply take in the view. They’re extremely close to the city, with tremendous scenery, and best of all, they’re free!

Red Hill Cinemas

Fancy seeing a movie on Valentine’s Day? Look no further than Red Hill Cinemas. Here, you can cosy up in the converted roller skating rink and enjoy some of the incredible movies on offer.

Most of the theatres have comfy recliners, and you can order food and drinks right to your seat. Plus, with their exclusive Valentine’s Day couples combo at just $22, you’ll have extra cash to splurge on flowers or chocolates for your date.

New Farm Park

New Farm Park is a Brisbane icon. It’s one of the oldest and largest parks in the city and a great place for a romantic picnic or walk. It’s also one of the only places in Brisbane where you can legally have an alcoholic drink outside.

One of the highlights of New Farm Park is the lush rose garden, which is ideal for a romantic stroll while smelling the roses.

Grab a fancy cocktail

If you’re after an intimate date, an outing to one of Brisbane’s many cocktail bars will definitely fit the bill. Most cocktail bars are designed to be ambient and romantic, with moody lighting and music that encourages conversation.

Here are some great cocktail bars in Brisbane:

MANIAX Axe Throwing

Looking for something quirkier? Channel your inner Viking and head to MANIAX Axe Throwing in Newstead!

Axe throwing is a really fun date; it’s a bit unusual, it gives you something to bond over and a bit of healthy competition can make a date much more interesting.

Plus, you can grab free drinks and a pizza if you book for two people under the Date Night package.
