Fee-Free TAFE Courses Available to Eligible Visa Holders

Following the availability of Fee-Free TAFE places in 2023, the Australian Government has announced it will fund an additional 300,000 Fee-Free TAFE and vocational education and training places from January 2024.

This initiative aims to provide tuition-free courses to students wanting to train, retrain or upskill in industry sectors with skill shortages or high growth. Through Fee-Free TAFE, people can study a diploma, certificate, or short course. Courses will be available in areas such as:

  •     Aged care, childcare, healthcare and disability care
  •     Technology and digital
  •     Hospitality and tourism
  •     Construction
  •     Agriculture
  •     Sovereign capability, for example, defence and manufacturing industries
  •     VET workforce

Which visa holders are eligible?

The eligibility criteria for Fee-Free TAFE courses will differ based on the specific state or territory you live in.
