Australians love sports! Whether it’s watching a game live in a stadium surrounded by fellow fans or playing a match of cricket on the beach, kicking a football in a backyard, or enjoying a round of tennis.
So, it only makes sense that engaging in sports is a great way to meet new people and make new friends (with both locals and international students alike!).
If you’re an international student in Sydney, now’s the time to register for the Australian Sports Program! This program provides a unique opportunity for you to learn about Australian culture through sport. There will be sports providers from everything from Australian rules football, basketball, cricket, hockey and netball, to rugby, soccer and volleyball.
For those interested in pursuing a career in sports, this is the perfect opportunity to network. The program provides an insight into the sports industry from experts in the field. Plus, selected participants from the program will have the opportunity for work experience with mainstream sporting bodies in Australia. So, make sure to be proactive and speak to as many people as you can!
You’ll be able to chat to student support services such as the Redfern Legal Centre, the International Students Intake Support Service, the NSW Police Force and Surf Live Saving NSW, as well as the team at Study NSW.
