The NSW Government Has Partnered with SEEK to Help International Students Find Jobs

Searching for jobs in NSW? Well, your job hunt just got a lot easier! In a brand-new pilot program, the NSW Government has launched an employment initiative specifically for international students. Created in partnership with SEEK, one of Australia’s largest employment marketplaces, NSW Jobs Connect for International Students is a new initiative that will connect international students directly with NSW employers.

With over 136,000 international students currently studying in NSW, this cohort plays an important role in the state’s workforce. As a result, Minister for Enterprise, Investment and Trade Alister Henskens emphasises that “it’s important that [NSW supports] them through their studies and beyond.”

Oftentimes, employers will have certain residency requirements for the positions they advertise on SEEK. However, these requirements are typically only mentioned in the job description, making it tricky for international students to figure out which positions they’re eligible for.

Under this initiative, employers will have the capacity to add a new #NSWJOBSCONNECT filter to their job postings that will allow international students to quickly identify which job opportunities are available to them on SEEK. The program will cover a wide array of industries, from finance to construction and everything in between.

At the time of publication, over 50 NSW employers have signed the NSW International Student Business Charter as a sign of commitment to the employment of international students. According to Study NSW, these organisations all currently have job opportunities available for international students.
