Perth Upmarket

Perth’s premier design market returns for two Sundays in September and November, bringing together more than 200 talented local artists, designers, craftspeople and food producers.
Perth Upmarket aims to support local creative businesses and build a collaborative community for Perth to enjoy. With everything from jewellery and homewares to clothing, art and food on offer, there’s plenty to browse.
Both markets run from 10am to 3.30pm. Cycling or walking to the market is encouraged, and there are plenty of racks to lock up your bike. Buses are also one of the easiest public transport options for getting to UWA.
Twilight Food Market
When: Every Friday, 2 October 2026 – 30 April 2027

As the Perth spring weather returns, so too does the highly anticipated Twilight Food Market.
Showcasing Perth’s diverse food culture, the market brings a variety of affordable cuisines from around the world to Forrest Place every Friday evening. Food is served from 4.30pm until 9.30pm, making it the perfect place for you and your friends to spend a balmy spring evening.
Farm After Five
When: 10 September – 12 November
Where: Perth City Farm, East Perth

Looking for a relaxed way to wind down after a day of study? Farm After Five returns to Perth City Farm throughout spring, combining food, community and the outdoors.
The free event series gives you a chance to spend an evening at the urban farm, with food and drink, market stalls and workshops all part of the experience.
It’s an easy way to get out with friends, enjoy the warmer evenings and discover one of Perth’s inner-city green spaces without spending much.

If you’re looking for an affordable dose of art and culture, The Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA) has several free exhibitions running throughout spring.
All the secrets are buried between the oceans and the mountains runs until 8 November, while Chivalry is dead? opens on 5 September and continues into 2027. Another new exhibition, No night is long enough for us to dream twice, opens on 3 October.
Entry to the gallery is free, and there are also regular free guided tours covering gallery highlights and First Nations art. It’s a great option if you want something cultural to do without stretching your student budget.
Parkrun Perth
When: Every Saturday morning

Spring into action on your Saturday morning with parkrun! These free community events let you walk, jog or run your way around a five-kilometre course.
The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, and with locations across Perth and the surrounding suburbs, you can find an event that works for you.
Registration is free and only needs to be completed once. After that, you can use the same registration at parkrun events around Australia – and even around the world.
