WOMADelaide 2024: Celebrating Music, Arts and Dance From Around The World

WOMADelaide is back! Set in the scenic Botanic Park in Adelaide, WOMAD is a big part of the South Australian festival calendar and one that international students should definitely check out.

Running next weekend (8-11 March), the festival celebrates the diversity of music, arts, and dance from around the world.

Walking around Botanic Park under the stunning Moreton Bay fig trees, listening to world-class music from all corners of the globe, and holding a plate of food from the seemingly endless row of food trucks is one of the absolute joys of this rare festival experience.

The festival showcases a wide array of performances, workshops, and art installations, providing a glimpse into different cultures’ traditions and artistic expressions.

Attending WOMADelaide also means joining a community that appreciates diversity and inclusivity. It’s a warm, relaxed vibe the whole weekend, providing a comforting sense of belonging for students far from home.

This year, Insider Guides recommends checking out the hauntingly beautiful acoustic songs of José Gonzalez (Argentina / Sweden) on Saturday night, the incredible RnB singer / rapper powerhouse that is A.Girl from Western Sydney (playing on Friday and Sunday) and The Budos Band, the “doom rock Afro-soul big band with a ‘70s touch”.

Explore the various food options, live cooking demonstrations, and talks and just embrace what is one of the most incredible festivals you will ever go to.
