City Circle tram

Running every 12 minutes from 9am to 5.30pm, this tram goes past Parliament House, the State Library, Federation Square and more! Hop on and off wherever you like, or simply sit back and enjoy the ride on one of Melbourne’s iconic W-class heritage trams.
The State Library Dome
If you’ve not visited the State Library of Victoria yet, you’re missing one of Melbourne’s most breathtaking treasures.
Inside, follow the signs to the La Trobe Reading Room. Built in 1913, the reading room features an incredible dome in the Edwardian style. Make sure you visit the sixth-floor balcony for the most exceptional view — and the best selfie.
The reading room is still in use with over 300 study spaces and free WiFi, so it’s the perfect place to hit the books!
Williamstown Beach
Dreaming of surf and sand? We recommend avoiding the crowds at St Kilda and heading to Williamstown Beach instead.
Just 20 minutes by train from Southern Cross, this beach has all the charm of a classic Aussie surf town. And don’t forget to pack your swimmers! You can swim here during the warmer months, but only when the beach is patrolled.
Prahran Market
Just a short trip from the city, you’ll find Australia’s longest-running food market, Prahran Market.
This traditional market houses a huge number of vendors, many of whom have been here for generations. Discover everything from fresh produce to gourmet products and specialty goods, all while supporting local businesses.

A loo with a view
Back in the city, it’s time to check out one of the quirkiest hidden gems Melbourne has to offer.
Head to the Sofitel hotel on Collins Street and take the elevator to the 35th floor. You’ll find yourself in a swanky bar, the Atrium on 35 — but this isn’t our destination. Instead, go straight to the toilets, where you’ll be treated to one of the most breathtaking views of East Melbourne.
Camberwell Market
Got a Sunday morning to spare? Why not hunt some bargains at Camberwell Market?
This is one of the city’s best flea markets, so you’ll be sure to find some great treasures. Plus, it’s particularly popular with fashionistas, so it’s the perfect place to pick up some new wardrobe faves at a great price!
You’ll need a gold coin ($1 or $2) donation to get in. Don’t forget to grab some classic hot jam doughnuts to keep you warm while you shop!
Hidden bars
Melbourne has long had a love affair with hidden bars, and a secret bar hop is a great way to spend an evening.
One can be found in State of Grace, where rumour says if you find a bookshelf and pull on a book called ‘Fall From Grace’, a secret door will appear. Other spots include Jungle Boy and Naught Gin Bar, but there are plenty more to find all over the city!
The Sun Theatre
Want to catch a film? There’s nowhere better to go than Yarraville’s Sun Theatre. This independent cinema doesn’t just show a mix of blockbuster films and arthouse movies, but it’s also a sight in itself!
Built in the 1930s, it’s a stunning example of Art Deco style. Transport yourself back to the golden age of film and enjoy the luxury and opulence of this gorgeous local gem.
